Are you ready to trade?

Contact List
If you are a DEA/HI have you got an up to date and accurate contact list? I have been working on mine in the last 24 hours and its runs to an awful lot more than I thought actually- may get to around 2000 people I have dealt with in the HIPS industry so far, possibly more, which is quite incredible since it probably only ran to 200 last Christmas. Anyway when its all sorted, the newsletter can be sent out and about time too, its been ready for a few days but wanted to make sure it went out in one hit rather than in batches- simplifies things my end and as an aside, it saves a few pennies too. Half of the next newsletter is written already!

Frenzy
The forum is now a frenzy of people asking questions about software, accreditation, self-employment etc. which is good to see, but there is also a shocking level of naivety being displayed from quite a few people, a majority of whom are recent sign-ups for DEA training. If you are going to have an employed position there is far less to worry about but if you wish to be self-employed, its vital to wise up, work out your business plan (get it written down and by all means adapt it when extra information becomes available) but get out there and generate some work!

Bloodbath
The more I am hear the more I am convinced its going to be a tough time for many involved. Best of luck to everyone, survival shouldn't be an issue for those who work hard, market themselves well and communicate often with existing and potential clients.

Podcast with Quidos
Yesterday MikeC released another of his now infamous podcasts interviewing Philip Salaman, MD of Quidos who are an accreditation scheme. Although there were a few wooly bits, Philip actually made an awful lot of sense and I think this should be compulsory listening for all DEA/HIs. I may not agree with 100% of what was said, but I agree with an awful lot of it and I wish Quidos well, they come from a background of providing a high quality service, if that can be maintained in the HIPS arena then they deserve to do well.
